100th Anniversary of first flight from England to Australia Silver 2oz Coin in Case

Price from:   4500 грн

In 1919, Captain Ross Smith, Lieutenant Keith Smith and Sergeants Wally Shiers and James Bennett made history when they landed their open cockpit ex-bomber Vickers ‘Vimy’ aeroplane in Darwin. The Australian servicemen were the first to make the harrowing 17,000 kilometre journey from England to Australia by air within 30 days. Marking the 100th anniversary of this ground-breaking success, this spectacular 2oz silver antiqued coin features an innovative propeller insert, making it a unique collectable to celebrate the achievement.
The coin’s reverse depicts a map with the flight’s route marked above an illustration of a mountainous landscape. In the foreground is a representation of the Vickers aircraft. The centre of the coin features a gold-plated propeller insert. The design includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the inscription CENTENARY OF FIRST FLIGHT and ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA.
The coin is housed in a classic black display case with a clear lid. Packaged within a shipper featuring a historical image of the 1919 crew, each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
